You can only drink tea with a cup of tea? We disagree! In this article, you'll find ideas for easy-to-make recipes that go wonderfully well with our Tenmoku tea cups, giving your guests a real "wow" effect. (Experienced and approved by the team)

For starters: Chawanmushi or Japanese egg flan

Very easy to make, Chawanmushi is emblematic of traditional Japanese cuisine. It is traditionally cooked in a tea bowl, and is generally presented as a hot starter. We've revisited the recipe to make it very affordable to make in France, so you can enjoy it without moderation!

Ingredients for 2 persons :

  • Egg
  • Seafood according to availability (shrimp, scallops)
  • Either chicken fillet
  • Shiitake mushroom, or other mushrooms
  • Chicken broth
  • Soy sauce
  • Optional: sesame oil
  1. Break the eggs into a bowl and mix gently, without frothing (this is important).
  2. Pour the stock and 1 teaspoon of soy sauce into the eggs, stirring constantly. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Strain the mixture to make sure it is perfectly smooth.
  4. Take 4 small Tenmoku cups, place two slices of mushroom and a piece of seafood or chicken cubes in each. Fill each bowl with the egg mixture.
  5. Once hot, place the bowls in the steamer and heat over low heat for about 15 min. Test for doneness by sticking a toothpick into a chawan mushi. If it comes out clean, it's done. Now it's ready! You can chop the spring onion and add it on top just before serving. A few drops of sesame oil are also highly recommended.

For dessert: Matcha Mug Cake (or TenmoCake)

Everyone loves dessert! And if we eat our favorite dessert in a handcrafted mug, it'll make the whole thing even better!
